Manifesto [a public declaration of principles and intentions]

Just a few examples:

  • Citibank: documented a financial return on investment from lowered medical expenses of $4.50 for every dollar spent on their health program.

  • FedEx: documented a savings of almost $600 million in projected health benefits costs and almost $500 million in lost productivity costs over a six-year period. Leave of absence days per one hundred employees has also been reduced by 28.4 days since 1997. Disability claims have decreased and injury rates have almost been cut in half, even as the number of employees has increased significantly.

  • Motorola: For every dollar invested in its wellness programs, the company found that it saves $3.93 in medical expenses. This translated to almost $6.5 million dollars in the United States alone in 2000. The company also saves nearly $10.5 million annually in disability expenses.

  • Xerox: achieved 2007 ROI of 2:1 after only one full year into their program
